Fuel feast at Auto Africa

BP's split engine display, showing the effect of its BP Ultimate fuel and the promise of more kilometres per tank, took away some of the glory from the cars at Auto Africa.
"The exhibition of an Audi A6 4.2 car with a split-engine designed to demonstrate the effect of BP Ultimate in comparison to ordinary fuel via boroscopes in the engine linked to high-tech television screens created a great deal of interest and excitement," said Tebogo Mekoa, BP’s Product Manager for Retail Fuels.
"BP Ultimate is formulated to clean cars’ engines as they drive, allowing them to run more smoothly and efficiently, thereby delivering fuel economy benefits to all types of vehicles.
"Visitors to the stand were able to see the product in action and were amazed at the superior cleaning benefits derived from BP Ultimate," said Mekoa.
He added that extensive independent vehicle tests were undertaking globally and in South Africa as part of the product development programme. According to him, laboratory testing and vehicle fleet trials show that BP Ultimate can deliver a fuel economy benefit of up to 25km per tank. This, says BP, is the result of the fuel's ability to efficiently remove deposits from dirty engines and keep engines clean.
Independent tests conducted by experts at the Centre for Automotive Engineering (CAE), on a representative range of cars in SA, showed that BP Ultimate unleaded removes an average 75 percent of existing inlet valve deposits, the company claimed in a press release.
In addition, tests on BP Ultimate diesel, which has also been formulated to remove deposits on critical engine components such as fuel injectors, have shown that fuel flow can be increased by 380 percent at the critical stage of injection.
"We have already had fantastic consumer response to BP Ultimate through its initial introduction in the BP network. Users have shown strong loyalty to the product because of its performance," said Mekoa.
BP Ultimate is available in both petrol and diesel variations and is designed for all types of vehicles.
