Land Rover's iconic Defender 4x4 will live again in two limited edition models, appropriately named Fire and Ice.

Inspired by the numerous adventures — and adventurers — that have take the Defender across some of the most diverse and challenging landscapes in the world, these limited editions celebrate the brand's reputation for rugged dependability.

Of course, you cannot give two models such bold names without an appropriate colour scheme.

The Defender Fire is painted a 'Vesuvius' orange with metallic black roof, bonnet, centre grille and wheel arches. The Defender Ice is a contrast in the chilly shade of 'Alaska' white with the same bold black panels.

Land Rover says the exterior 'trim' was designed to be eye-catching and included five-spoke alloys, black side runners, LED rear lamps with clear lenses, and a "unique front light treatment".

In the cabin the centre switch panels use the same orange or white paint finish as the exterior, while contrast stitching on the steering wheel, seats, centre cubby box and carpet mats are coordinated to match.

A range of optional accessories is available, including an A-frame protection bar, raised air intake, ribbed aluminium undershield, aluminium wing top protectors and a chequer-plate protection kit in black, a luggage rack or a roof sports bar system.

The Fire and Ice limited editions are available in the 90 or 110 body styles.

Prices

Prices start at R 378 000 for the 90 SW and R 418 000 for the 110 SW.

Better be quick off the mark because just 100 of these models will be offered in South Africa, with a total limited edition of 850 vehicles to be sold worldwide.
