The Top Gear team managed to pull off a world record at the Top Gear Festival in Durban on the weekend, performing the first double loop-the-loop in their custom buggy.

The Top Gear Live stunt team managed to successfully complete the "Deadly 720" in front of a crowd of over 15 000 fans at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

"To defy gravity not once but twice, the buggy had to enter each loop at between 24mph and 26mph. Too little speed and the buggy would fall out at the top of the loop, with fairly grim results. Too much speed would have resulted in an extra g of force on the driver and could have caused him to black out," a spokesperson explained.
