An American homeowner managed to film a bear opening the garage door to free her trapped cub.

The video shows the bear cub climbing across a beam in the garage, as a dog barks in the background. The mother bear is then seen forcing open the garage door, and holding it up.

The cub then climbs down a ladder - which comes close to falling on the parked Audi - and appears to leave the garage.

The man who filmed the incident says he didn't help the female bear open the door.

"I couldn't exactly go outside and let her into the garage. I could have been dinner. As you can see she opened garage door herself," he said.
