A suspect in Houston attempted to out-run police... in a Smart car.

A state trooper tried to stop 49-year-old David Wheaton, but the Smart car driver refused to pull over. What came next was a high-speed chase involving the tiny little vehicle.

Traffic eventually forced Wheaton to slow down, and he was reportedly arrested without incident in his very own driveway, as surprised neighbours looked on.

"There never seemed to be anything wrong with the guy," said neighbour Tony Lopez.

"Moved in and everything was fine. Was a nice guy, stayed on his side of the yard and we got along good."

The neighbours agreed that Wheaton was rather a large man to be driving the minute Smart car.

Wheaton is facing his third driving while intoxicated charge.
