Police dash camera footage shows an American woman dodging traffic after her accelerator became stuck at over 160km/h.

Lauri Ulvestad managed to call 911 after experiencing the frightening problem on her 2011 Kia Sorento. The 47-year-old remained remarkably composed as she managed to prevent any accidents during the 35-minute episode along Interstate 35 in Missouri.

Thankfully, police were able to clear some traffic ahead of the runaway Kia.

The Sorento featured a keyless, push-button starter that Ulvestad said she was unable to turn off. According to the 911 call, she was unable to get the car to decelerate or shift the gearbox into neutral.

How did it all end? Happily, thankfully... Police finally suggested that she attempt pulling back on the accelerator while hitting the brakes. She was successful. Phew.
