The National Tourism department has laid down a challenge to Capetonians. Go without your car for a day.
Car Free Day is set to be on 20 September and is encouraging the promotion of renewable and sustainable energy. The tourism department has joined forces with investment and trade promoters, Wesgro, to promote Car Free Day.
The aim of 'Car Free Day' is to reduce the carbon footprint by encouraging the public to use alternative means of transport in the city and by doing this, also seeing more of Cape Town and its surroundings.
The City of Cape Town’s MyCiti bus, the bike lane on the Western Seaboard, Metrorail and Golden Arrow bus services can be used by the public on this day.
