A hand-cuffed criminal has been filmed stealing a police car and going on a destructive joy-ride.

After receiving a call, officers in White Settlement, Texas, arrived at an antique store to catch Darren Porter breaking in. He was arrested, hand-cuffed, and shoved in the back of the cop car.

But the officers — back inside the store, at this point — were oblivious to the fact that Porter had managed to open the vehicle's back door, get out and slip into the driver's seat through the front door.

The cop car's dash camera then shows how the still-cuffed Porter struggles to control the cruiser, spinning a couple of times before eventually bursting a tyre. He then flees on foot, and is apparently still on the run.

Thankfully, he didn't manage to gain access to the firearms in the cruiser's boot...
