The cut-price Datsun GO, which was recently launched in South Africa, has scored zero stars in a crash test performed in India by Global NCAP.
The GO, which boasts a starting price of just R89 500, is currently not available with ABS or airbags in South Africa.
In the 64km/h frontal offset test, the GO's structure simply collapsed, resulting in an adult occupant rating of zero stars. In fact, the testers suggested that the results "indicated a high probability of life-threatening injuries".
Interestingly, since Datsun SA is believed to be considering adding airbags to certain GO models in the future, the testers also said that "the failure of the body-shell makes fitting an airbag redundant".
