Team Ford Racing head into the final round of the WesBank Super Series with a twenty point lead in Class T of the Bridgestone Production Car Championship. The season’s grand finale will take place at Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria West on 26 November 2011.
“We are in a good position in the championship but we need to keep focused. The smallest mistake could be disastrous at this late stage and could cost us our second Class T championship title. The chase for victory is going to be close, but I am feeling confident that we are up to the challenge,” commented team driver and championship leader, Gary Formato.
The team walked away from the last event, also held at Zwartkops, with a full house of victories which bodes well for their championship aspirations.
“The Ford Focus ST's have proven to be exceptionally quick this season, the reliability has been good and the handling outstanding. Our biggest advantage is that Zwartkops is our home track and after many test sessions, we know that pure speed is not going to lead to victory. Keeping the engine and brakes as cool as possible is vitally important and this strategy worked well for us at the beginning of the month,” explained team manager, Shaun Duminy.
The final event of 2011 will consist of two sets of back to back sprint races and all Ford fans are urged to cheer the team toward championship victory.
