Hot on the heels of the super sporty Twingo RS, Renault launches a new, limited-edition version of its trendy subcompact hatchback.

Badged the Twingo Groove Limited Edition, this newcomer adds further value and features to the Twingo 1.2 Dynamique Plus: full Bluetooth cellphone communication, multimedia connectivity, and smash-and-grab protection courtesy of Renault SA-approved window film.

The Parrot MKi9000 system, allows a seamless link-up with Bluetooth-equipped mobile phones. The system features a steering wheel-mounted RF remote control keypad allowing access to all major functions, and offers user-independent voice recognition and text to speech. Automatic phonebook synchronisation is standard.

Conforming to the latest Bluetooth 2.0 protocol, the system features an Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) of up to 3.0 megabits/sec, and is fully compatible with all Bluetooth-equipped cellphones. It features latest-generation DSP-3 digital signal processing for superior speech clarity.

Once paired, the system links to the user’s mobile phone automatically, and allows complete hands-free communication, including making and answering calls.

Up to 10 devices can be paired with the system, although not simultaneously. Device details are stored in memory, while the system automatically links to the last phone it was used with.

The Parrot system also features connections for fifth-generation iPods and iPhones, a USB socket for flash drives and USB MP3 players, and a line-in solution for other music sources.

In addition, MP3 players, PDAs and cellphones equipped with Bluetooth Stereo (A2DP) can also be used as a music source.

The system is integrated with the Twingo Groove’s standard four-speaker sound system, which already includes a FM Stereo/AM tuner and a CD player with MP3 playback capability.

The remainder of the Twingo Groove’s specification remains identical to that of the Twingo 1.2 Dynamique Plus. Power is provided by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine delivering 56kW at 5500rpm, and 107Nm at 4250rpm.

That’s enough to propel the hatchback from zero to 100km/h in 12 seconds, while top speed is 170km/h. An economical runabout, its combined-cycle fuel consumption is 5.7litres/100km, while CO2 emissions come to 135g/km.

The Twingo Groove features independent front suspension and a coil-sprung torsion beam at the rear, allowing predictable road manners. Electric power steering is standard.

The Twingo Groove Limited Edition runs on 15-inch alloy wheels shod with low-profile 185/55 R15 rubber. Disc brakes front and rear, equipped with ABS, EBD and EBA, are standard.

Inside, standard equipment includes remote central locking, air-conditioning, electrically operated front windows and exterior mirrors, satellite audio controls, rain and light sensors for automatic activation of the windscreen wipers and headlights, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. The Individual rear seats can be independently adjusted fore and aft to favour either rear legroom, or boot space.

The active and passive safety package comprises dual front and side airbags, Renault’s Anti-Intrusion Device (RAID), auto-locking doors, and ISOFIX child seat mountings.

The exterior styling of the limited-edition Renault Twingo Groove expresses the same extrovert, funky and youthful personality as the rest of the Twingo range.

A rear roof spoiler, chequered body decals, and colour-coded bumpers and mirrors add further visual appeal, while front fog lamps are standard.

Only 50 Groove Limited Edition models will be available.
