Harley-Davidson has four new models that will roll out into 2010. The company says that across six model platforms it "achieves a fusion of tradition and technology in a motorcycle product line that offers more power, luxury, style, and value".

Harley-Davidson vice president of core customer marketing says: "Like everyone, we are working and living in a challenging environment these days, but our passion for creating and riding great bikes is still at full throttle."

The global economic crisis has done little to dampen their enthusiasm for motorcycling, it seems.

Highlights of the 2010 Harley-Davidson line:

  • The Electra Glide Ultra Limited, upgraded with a "Twin Cam 103" engine, and featuring as standard equipment items previously offered only as accessories on regular-production touring models.

  • The Dyna Wide Glide returns as an all-new model with old-school chopper style.

Black-laced wheels, a shortened rear fender, black sissy bar, "2-1-2 Tommy Gun" exhaust and a flame paint scheme.

  • A new Fat Boy Special motorcycle "dressed in satin chrome and denim black" as a "darker and lower interpretation" of the motorcycle that Harley says still defines the fat-custom segment.

  • The latest incarnation of the XR1200, the XR1200X. Inspired by the iconic XR750, it was created to address the need for a street-smart Harley that holds it own "through the twisties".

Harley says the updated styling was to give it a "predatory edge". Blacked-out engine casing, upside-down forks, matte black tail, tank and fender and a sport-tuned Showa piggyback suspension for enhanced performance and firmer handling.

Harley-Davidson's custom vehicle unit, known as CVO, is also offering four limited-production models for 2010. The CVO Softail Convertible, the high-performance CVO Street Glide, CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide and a CVO Fat Bob model all sport new paint schemes and styling details.

All CVO models are powered by a "Twin Cam 110" engine, the largest displacement V-Twin powertrain offered by Harley-Davidson.
