Lexus will bring its IS250C to South Africa in mid-November. The new Lexus convertible will become the luxury brand's second open-top model alongside the SC430.
The latest addition to the Lexus range takes the top off the IS250 sedan, ranked as South Africa's most satisfying car to own, according to J.D. Power and Associates. Far from being a simple matter of a retractable hardtop, the changes to turn the IS250 into a convertible are significant.
The IS250C shares only the headlights, bonnet, door handles, and exterior mirrors with it s sedan counterpart.
Its three-piece folding hardtop is the fastest operating mechanism in its segment and also allows the maximum amount of luggage space of any of its competitors when folded.
Lexus SA general manager Kevin Flynn says: "The IS250C allows us to once again take Lexus into a new market segment in line with our strategy to expand the model line-up.
"The new IS250C offers all the attractions of a convertible with all the benefits of a coupe thanks to its retractable hardtop offering an elegant and cosseting closed car with the lifestyle experience that only a four-seater open car can offer."
Sharing the sedan's 2.5-litre, V6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission, it delivers 153kW at 6400rpm and 252Nm at 4800rpm.
"It will be exclusive, well-appointed, luxurious and, above all, satisfying and rewarding to own, the kind of experience that is the epitome of any Lexus," says Flynn.
