Ford's new Everest SUV will be launched in South Africa in November, bringing the "ultimate recreational vehicle" to our roads, the company says.

The seven-seater features bold styling that includes a chromed grill and spare wheel mounted on a side-hinged tailgate.

The cabin is designed to be versatile and its third row of seatis can either be completely removed or folded flat to create what Ford claims is the largest cargo volume in its segment.

Leather upholstery, MP3 audio system, electric folding mirrors, electric windows, conditioning, four crash bags and ABS with EBD are all standard on the Everest.

Three models - all powered by the Duratorq TDCi diesel engine ? will be available.

The three-litre engine delivers 115kW and 380Nm of peak torque at 1800rpm and drives a five-speed manual transmission.

The Ford Everest XLT will be available in 4x2 or 4x4 modela, while the Everest LTD is available in 4x4 only with a five-speed automatic transmission.

    Price includes a five-year or 90 000km service plan and a four-year or 120 000km warranty. A three-years emergency assistance and five-year corrosion warranty are also included.
