It's unlikely that Ferrari lovers would complain if you compared the marque to a fighter jet. The sports cars are known for their acceleration, aggressive styling and power that is almost brutal.
Tuning house Gemballa went a step further and transformed the Ferrari Enzo into the Mig-U1, which has military styling that hints at the Russian Mikoyan aircraft that became popularly known as 'Migs'.
Gemballa focused on the Enzo's aerodynamics in the makeover and added a spoiler lip that generates 35 kilograms additional downthrust on the front axle and a rear spoiler that adds 85 kilograms downthrust on the rear.
More air, more power
The hinged rear spoiler folds away when the car reaches 120km/h to provide uniform handling at all speeds.
Ventilation and cooling systems were extensively remodeled to increase the supply of fresh air to the brakes and engine. By positioning the exhaust vents for these ducts on top of the rear skirt, an additional radiator could be squeezed into the engine bay.
Edges on the body are sharper and additional air inlets dot the front and rear to give the Mig-U1 a more aggressive, 'air-hungry' appearance.
Lighten the load
A hydraulic height-adjustment systems increases ground clearance by 45 millimetres to avoid nasty bumps and 'sleeping policemen'.
Wheels carved from a single piece of alloy reduce the unsprung weight on each axle by 16 kilograms, making the steering more responsive and agile.
A set of 19-inch wheels at the front hold 265/35 tyres and power through the rear axle goes to a set of 20-inch alloys on 335/30 tyres.
An adjusted exhaust system and ECU squeeze improved performance from the twelve-cylinder engine. Apart from the symphony of sound coming through the pneumatic flap controls on the four-pipe exhaust, peak power reaches 515 kW.
Each of the 25 Mig-U1s made by Gemballa will be adjusted to the individuals that drive them, so no two cars will be identical.
Got something to say?
