'Net leaks make it hard for manufacturers to keep anything under wraps. Like the new BMW 7.

Seemingly official press images of the new 2009 model are now floating around cyberspace and online speculation is already rampant.

The V8-powered 750i and 750iL models are to get the new 300kW twin-turbo engine that debuted in the X6, according to Automotive News.

It's also believed that Europe will be getting a 240kW revised twin-turbo inline six and a diesel engine later, with a hybrid model under consideration.

Underneath, BMW's trademark front struts will be swapped for the double-wishbones of the active suspension system that offers sports-plus, sports, normal and comfort modes.

Active steering makes an appearance, upgraded to direct the rear wheels too, while the latest iDrive system, with a new controller featuring buttons mounted around it, is set to get a rack of improvements.

Safety systems include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and night vision.

Of course massaging rear seats are par for the course, while the flagship's rear-seat entertainment system now has a screen on each front seatback instead of one centre screen.

Visually, the most obvious changes are the "angel-eye lamps" that flank the traditional double-kidney grille up front, while the rear of the car features new bulbous taillamps.
