The launch of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer saw BMW producing the functionality of space and comfort. It was introduced to South Africa in 2015 as competition against the Mercedes-Benz B-Class.
However, it has been reported that BMW South Africa is no longer bringing the 2 Series Active Tourer into the country, with the MPV having been removed from the automaker’s official price list.
With the local MPV market continuing to shrink, BMW SA has opted to stop importing the front-wheel-drive Active Tourer, carmag says.
There have been difficulties in determining the sales of this model over the past few years as BMW SA had not been reporting their individual model sale stats to Naamsa for the past few months. Prior to that, they have only been reporting an overall figure for the entire 2 Series range, carmag concludes.
