After the video the 71-year-old motorist being assaulted went viral, it has been confirmed that Southern African Auto Supplies has suspended the managing director Lance O’Leary.
According to News24, Christopher Price (71) opened a case of assault following the incident and his passenger Donovan Thomson who was shoved in the process opened a case of his own against O’Leary.
Price’s son Hadleigh told News24 that is father and O’Leary drove into one another after an altercation at an intersection.
"Two lanes were going into one and my dad had right of way” Hadleigh said.
O’Leary, who disputed this version of events in a statement, told News24 that Price forced him off the road. He thereafter intentionally drove into his stationary vehicle resulting in R100 000 worth of damages.
"He fled the scene of the accident… I was forced to chase after him.
"I am in no way trying to justify or sanction my actions – merely provide a context to the circumstances that lead to the event in question. I have never reacted like this before and it’s not typical behaviour," O'Leary said.
After his personal details were shared on social media, O’Leary says he has been receiving death threats, News24 reports.
