It has been reported that two traffic officers from the Msunduzi municipality were arrested for alleged corruption.
After being accused of soliciting a bribe from a motorist in the Pietermaritzburg, the pair was arrested by the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigations members.
According to Arrive Alive, “it is alleged the motorist resisted their attempts, however his vehicle was impounded by the two officers and they demanded a bribe for its release.”
Subsequently an undercover operation was conducted, the 32-year-old and 26-year-old were arrested for taking money from the complainant and charged for corruption, Arrive Alive adds.
They were granted R1000.00 bail each after appearing briefly in the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court. The case was however postponed to 13 December 2017.
