The sixth generation Golf has leaked out ahead of its official reveal later this week.

Although information is currently sketchy ? we'll have to wait a few days for VW's press release ? it's clear the new Golf is larger, wider and lower than the model it's replacing. And it looks not unlike the recently revealed Scirocco.

Golf VI will reportedly be powered by VW's range of petrol engines ? 1.4-litre TSI, 1.8-litre TFSI and possibly a 2.0-litre TFSI ? while the diesels are represented by 1.9-litre and 2.0-litre TDI engines.

Transmission will be a choice of automatic, manual and DSG.
