With its 350Z now getting a bit long in the tooth after six years, Nissan has unveiled a more muscular successor.

The upcoming 370Z Coupe makes its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show on 19 November and should rumble its way into South Africa within a year.

The first full redesign of the iconic Nissan Z since its reintroduction as a 2003 model gets a shorter wheelbase than its predecessor with 260kW from the 3.7-litre engine delivered to the rear wheels via a new seven-speed paddle-shift auto or the current six-speed 'box.

The two-seater may get aluminium doors and roof, reducing weight for increased agility, but we'll have to wait a few weeks before getting all the details.
