Love it or hate it, BMW X6 has created a lot of buzz. Nissan has noticed ? here's Acura ZDX.

A prototype of the four-door sports coupe made its world debut at the New York International Auto Show. The production version goes on-sale in US in the third quarter of 2009.

"The ZDX is truly a luxury performance coupe ? plus," said Acura's Jeff Conrad of the car intended to blur the distinction between coupe, sedan and SUV, and will likely split opinion like BMW's X6 has.

"From the very first sketch of the ZDX, I wanted to create an emotional vehicle that challenged conventional thinking of what a sports coupe should be," said Michelle Christensen, ZDX exterior designer, who obviously kept an eye on the X6.

Inside, the ZDX is about luxury and pampering the front passengers. The cabin is enveloped in leather ? the hand-stitched leather dash and instrument panel sweep down to form a dual cockpit layout. The leather seats are bolstered to support the passengers during sporty driving and at the same time provide comfort during a long getaway.

A black monochromatic centre stack leads to the textured metallic centre console, which complements the black and pearl white leather trim. The thick leather wrapped steering wheel is framed by paddle shifters.

Finally, the cabin is enclosed by a panoramic glass roof which runs the entire length of the vehicle.

Power comes courtesy of a V6 engine mated to an all-new six-speed automatic transmission coupled with Acura's "Super Handling All-Wheel Drive" system.

And as is to be expected from Nissan's luxury brand, the ZDX will be available with technologies like an all-new blind spot information system, which will help drivers change lanes. A new multi-view rear camera makes parking even easier with both a wide angle and top down view.

Look out BMW?
