This concept from Honda could be an indication of a future MPV offering that the Japanese firm might produce
While it has a more sportier styling that might compete with the like of Ford's S-Max in Europe, Honda might also be designing a successor to the FR-V, which was recently discontinued.
The Skydeck concept is six-seater hybrid MPV. IT remains a design study but is a great example of how Honda's IMA (integrated motor assist) technology can be placed in a range of different cars for different needs.
In a four-cylinder engine, the Honda IMA System employs the VTEC System to stop operation of valves in three of the four cylinders, reducing engine friction by 50 percent and making it possible highly efficient electrical regeneration.
To give the Skydeck the practicality of a conventional MPV, many of the hybrid system components - including the high-power battery - are housed in the car's centre tunnel (rather than behind the rear seats or under the floor, as with previous production hybrids).
This opens up cabin space, and room for three rows of two seats. It also lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity.
It's not often you hear of a company that wants a zero score - but Renault's plans depend on it.
