Mercedes-Benz has introduced a power upgrade package for the already-potent C63 AMG.
Called the 'Performance Package Plus', the upgrade will add an extra 22kW to the C63, raising its maximum power output to a heady 358kW. To wring this extra power out of the 6.3-litre, V8 engine, Mercedes put in forged pistons that were designed for the SLS AMG supercar, new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft.
The ECU has also been modified in the process, and in line with the improved performance, the package includes Mercedes' AMG high-performance brake system, a carbon-fibre lip spoiler as well as a sport steering wheel.
The revised C63 will get to 100km/h from standstill in 4.4 seconds, which is only one-tenth of a second faster than the standard verson. However, it is 1.2 seconds quicker than the standard model to 200km/h.
Available on both estate and sedan models, the Performance Package Plus will set the buyer back the equivalent of R79 500.
