Motorists can expect drastic fuel price increases over the next few months.
Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan announced a fuel levy increase of 28 cents per litre, effective in April.
In March, petrol prices are also expected to rise by about 20 cents, while diesel prices will also increase by around eight cents.
The South African Petroleum Retailers Association's Peter Noke said the next few months are going to be tough.
"If we look at the current situation created by the issues in Iran and the Western countries proposing sanctions, and the pressures that Iran faces, it is pushing up the crude price dramatically."
