A German motorcyclist who intentionally set off 26 speed cameras and gave cops the finger in each one has been fined about R50 000.

Seventeen-year-old Dimitri Salovic covered his numberplate before blasting around Munich deliberately setting off the cameras, according to court documents. He was wearing full leathers and a full-face helmet at the time.

Police eventually caught him by studying the pattern of his route and deploying an undercover team to his next camera "target".

Salovic is now facing charges of driving a motorcycle on a provisional licence, which only allows the holder to use a scooter.
