Toyota's seven-seater people carrier, the Verso, will showcase its mid-life upgrade at the Paris Motor Show.

The people carrier features new extrior styling and will have a stronger Toyota family identity that links it to the Auris and Auris stationwagon.

Along with updated exterior styling, the Verso has received a comprehensive makeover with over 300 parts changed. These include an improved interior, a revised 2.0-litre D-4D diesel engine for lower CO2 emissions, sharper driving dynamics and reduced NVH levels.

The Verso will also be availble in a  2.2-litre D-CAT diesel engine, in a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. The former develops 175bhp/131kW with 159g/km CO2 emissions, the latter 148bhp/110kW and 178g/km.

The vehicle's towing capacity has also been upped by 200kg to 1500kg.

Toyota will also offer two petrol engines for the Verso, a  1.6 and 1.8-litre Valvematic petrol engines will continue. Both are matched to a six-speed manual gearbox, with the 1.8 optionally available with a revised Multidrive CVT that has been tuned to give more of a stepped gear shift feel, with engine revs building in a way that’s more closely linked to vehicle acceleration.
