A shocking pitlane fire caused a spot of panic at the penultimate round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at the weekend.
The incident took place during the Six Hours of Shanghai event in the LMGTE (European Le Mans Series) Am category.
The No.50 Larbre Competition Corvette, which appeared to be on target for a podium finish, was suddenly hit by a fuel-rig fire in the pitlane.
As the accompanying picture shows, two mechanics were caught up in the frightening flames. But neither was hurt.
How did they escape injury, you ask? Well, reports suggested that fast-thinking neighbouring crews jumped to their aid. Oh, and let's just say those firesuits are pretty effective...
