Formula 1 Cost Savings Proposal
");
document.write("Suggestion for cost savings by F1 teams: 1. No budget cap. 2. Non-manufacturer teams are allocated money from a fund, that is funded from teams' share of prize money on a sliding scale linked to teams' cost spend. 4. The more a team spends, the higher its pro-rata contribution to the fund. 5. This will ensure funding for small teams and curb spending by large teams, but still keep the competitiveness of F1.. Restricting F1 to budget caps due to the current economy crises, I fear will do the same. Like the oil crises, the world will overcome the economic crises. Racing after all is for those that can afford it. The more you can afford, the higher the class you will race in. If you can't afford the big league, then you drop down a class and so on, It's a constant yo-yo. Fiddling with the rules as is now proposed will result in a 2 class race within a race.....dunno if that will for F1. I fear for the spectical that F1 is ( or should I say \"was\", for recent races have been pretty boring.

document.write("Firstly, to correct the author of this article: \"And few observers will have failed to notice that the success of the low-budget independent Williams team on Thursday, following four victories in five races by the new independent Brawn GP team, is an endorsement of the argument for budget caps.\"
- Williams is not a success, not in the last ten years. Nico Rossberg has been crowned unofficial FP1 and FP2 'practice champion'. They never carry that into Q3 and certainly not the race on Sunday. How this writer sees William's a success, is a complete mystery!
- The writer heaps praise on Brawn, a new private team. Yes, BrawnGP are successful beyond belief. The explanation is that they were HONDA, yes that same honda that broke the bank or almost in running their R&D without success. Along comes Ross Brawn who decided in 2008 they would not waste time developing a car that \"cease to exist\" as the 2009 car would have to be 100% new, for new rules. He had 15months of HONDA's R&D budget to achieve what we see today, while in 2008, Ferrari and Maclaren kept the fight for the titles till last corner, last race, thus not putting in as much effort on 2009 car. One will have to wait for 2010 season to judge BrawnGP as 2009 is their \"true development year\" as a private team.
Back to the subject, F1 is about innovation. You cannot talk of budget cap, homologation and then about KERS, bio-fuels and other future developments in the same breath. Every rule opens the door to more spending. Every rule open to interpretation does the same and depending on FIA politic's, one team or another gets their innovation deemed illegal. They have to start over to catch up or end up back markers the rest of the season.
We have GP2, A1 and we have sportscar racing. In the states they've got CART and Indy. If you permit a sort of two tier system in F1, it loses it's identity and becomes 'another racing league'.
If that Max_nazi_loving_Mosley wanted to save money, he should have kept the 2004 F1 cars, engines and chassis. He could have used slicks, got rid of traction control and a limit on aero evolution rules would have kept the field close and reliable. Instead they go to V8, from grooved to slick tyres, engine freeze. The only avenues to develop is the aero and this is where the most cost is derived.
The problem is not the F1 teams. It's Max_herr_spanky_Mosley and Bernie_waiting for god_Eccelstone!. Thinker");
