Four doors have never been as cool as two doors. Fact. This rule still holds true with the Corsa Sport, it looks better as a two door even though it is more a hardcore derivative of the Corsa than the OPC.

This 1.6-litre, turbo-charged pocket rocket is going to score points with boy racers who want a bargain buy that still has some style. If they happen to need four doors then it's even better. It will race from standstill to 100km/h in 8.3 seconds, driven by 110kW and 210Nm of torque. That's a quick time considering its competition struggles to break nine seconds.

Inside our red Corsa we were surprised to see that the seats matched the outside of the car, which made it err… bright, this theme repeated throughout the cabin, so if you don't mind having the inside of your car match the outside (literally) then it's just peachy .

The rest of the interior is however, plain. Standard dials and a pixelated trip computer make it appear somewhat cheap and I've never been a fan of the square gear lever Opel adopted in the OPC and have implemented here.

The Sport handles very much like the OPC. Head into a corner with too much speed and you'll have to deal with the front tyres crunching against the tar as the chassis prefers to continue in a longitudinal direction rather than turning in.

But enter at a more moderate pace and accelerate through and out - and the excitement mounts. The chassis gives great feedback, which is more than can be said for the steering system. The power assistance doesn't lend itself to a confidence-inspiring drive. It's a shame since the chassis really does have the fun factor built into it.

Corsa Sport is a bargain buy that rockets around town, looks good and has accessible back seats. So what happens when you're not in the mood to drive it like you're a star in the Fast and Furious? Does it calm down and understand how to drive slowly? No.

It simply will not stand for a leisurely slow cruise or heavy traffic. The throttle seems to have two settings: idle and drag race. This can make it a bit of a pain to live with.
